Frances Moffatt

Frances is a freelance illustrator, educator, researcher and writer, and has worked for a wide range of clients across editorial, publishing, fashion, beauty product and live event illustration. She is the author/illustrator of The Fashion Exercise Book (Batsford), Pick up a Pen (Portico) and Fashion Doodling and Colouring (Batsford). Other selected clients include Egmont Publishing, Face Lace, Paperlink, Hallmark and Michael O’Mara Books. Frances also has a strong authorial practice and has exhibited her work at a range of UK galleries and festivals including The Northern Festival of Illustration, Drawsome Festival York, York Design Week and The Art House Sheffield, and sold her independently published zines at Thought Bubble Comic Art Festival and the Baltic Self-Publishing Artists Market.

 

She also writes about illustration and creativity, most recently for the Writer’s and Artist’s Yearbook 2025 (Bloomsbury 2024) and the Association of Illustrator’s Inside Illustration: Site Specific Illustration Season (2024).

As an educator, Frances has lectured in illustration and design at degree level at a range of UK colleges and universities. She is currently Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Illustration at the University of Lincoln.
